Sunblock Policy

May. 3, 2007 Kim Wood

As the hot weather approaches, we wanted to review TCDC’s sunblock policy. Our teachers are happy to apply sunblock to your child to help prevent sunburn and other sun-related damage.

Each child needs to supply his/her own bottle of sunblock, with the child’s name marked on the bottle. Spray-on sunblock is especially appreciated, since teachers often have many children to apply sunblock to before they go outside. Teachers are not allowed to use another child’s sunblock on your child.

Please give the sunblock directly to your child’s teacher. They will keep the sunblock in a safe place in the classrooms. Sunblock should not be sent in bags or left in cubbies where children could have access to it.

In addition, we require a signed medication form giving teachers permission to apply sunblock. You can find a copy of our “Authorization to Administer Medication” form here, or you can pick one up in the office.

We also encourage you to send a wide brimmed hat for your child to wear to provide additional protection from the summer sun.

If you have any questions or concerns, please see your child’s teacher, or Charlotte or Kim in the office.

A reminder about car safety

Mar. 21, 2007 Kim Wood

As we head into a beautiful spring, we wanted to remind everyone of the importance of properly restraining children in automobiles. In Alabama, all children under 6 must be transported using a federally approved child passenger safety restraint. Please remember when carpool resumes on Monday that in order to participate in carpool your child must arrive and depart TCDC in an appropriate car seat or booster seat.

Please click here to visit the Children’s Health System website and learn more about child passenger safety and Alabama law.

Welcome to TCDC’s new home on the web!

Mar. 9, 2007 Kim Wood

We hope that this website and blog will be a great way for families to check in with what’s going on at TCDC each day. You will be able to find and download information you need (like our parent handbook, carpool policies, and the current month’s lunch menu) as well as forms you will be able to print and return to us (like your emergency contact form if you need to update it, registration forms, or an authorization for your child’s teacher to administer medication at school). We will use this blog to let you know about our latest news and to remind you of upcoming events or deadlines. You can check the blog daily right here, or you can subscribe to the RSS feed to have updates automatically sent to you. Please take some time to look around the new site and let us know what you think!
