Call the church office at 879-1737 for any entry form. The United Methodist Church is sending a Musical Mission Team to Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania in August. The team is made up of 9 musicians from the state of Alabama.  The musicians are some of the finest in Alabama and a few are considered some of the best in the world.  The team will be representing two different genres of music.  A Brass Quintet will play more formal music in cathedrals and United Methodist Churches, and a Dixieland Band will play in outdoor festivals and less formal venues. The purpose of the trip is to promote Christianity in the Baltic States.  Our goal is to do so through the gift of music.  During the reign of Communism in the former Soviet Union., American jazz was abolished and the people there did not have access to it.  Since the fall of Communism there, that type of music has been very popular among the people.  In our presentation of music, our goal is to invite people back to the United Methodist churches that are emerging there and to other Christian congregations. In addition to sharing our faith through music, the team will be promoting the Hope Center and Camp Wesley in Latvia.  The Hope Center is a facility that offers a single, young, pregnant woman a place to go to give birth to and nurture her child.  Camp Wesley is a youth camp, designed for spiritual formation of youth in the Baltic States.  The Children of Chernobyl have also been to this camp to enjoy its’ facilities. We now have the opportunity to reach out and extend the hand of Christ and to help revitalize churches in these countries. Your participation in this golf tournament will help us do this! News 2007-06-11T15:46:00-06:00 http://www.trinitybirmingham.com/worship/blog/music_at_trinity/choir_tour_07/ http://www.trinitybirmingham.com/worship/blog/music_at_trinity/choir_tour_07/#When:14:41:00Z Trinity’s 50-member Cross and Flame Youth Choir begins an eight-day Midwest Tour on Saturday, May 26.  The choir will provide music for Sunday worship services at Wentzville United Methodist Church in Wentzville, Missouri on its first stop. Following the services in Wentzville, the group will also provide music for worship services at three other United Methodist Churches in and around Chicago. In addition, the choir will sing the National Anthem for the Nashville Sounds baseball game on June 2. The choir (and its predecessor, the Emmanuel Singers) has a cherished tradition of singing in churches from coast to coast over the past 36 years.  In addition to providing music for worship services, the choir in recent years performed the National Anthem for the 2004 World Champion Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park and for the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field. Choir membership is open to youth in the 7th through 12th grades.  The choir sings two to three times a month during worship services at Trinity.  The group rehearses weekly and sings a mix of contemporary and traditional church music.  The Cross & Flame band also accompanies the choir, producing a rich contemporary sound.  The group is under the direction of R. Scott Robertson, director of music ministry at Trinity.
